The Stream Explorer is a rustic 3.5-acre, farm-fenced section of the Must Love Dogs property located just off SH2, only minutes from Dannevirke.
The Matamau Stream runs through the field, offering endless sniffing, exploring, and splashing opportunities for dogs. The water is generally shallow but does reach swimming depth in some areas.
Because this part of the land sits lower than the surrounding paddocks, it feels naturally secluded from the rest of the farm and from livestock. Mature trees throughout the area provide shelter and add to the peaceful beauty of the space.
The field is fully perimeter farm-fenced. However, please note that the stream continues beyond this section of the property and there is no fencing across the stream where it enters or exits the field.
Occasionally, dairy cows may be grazing in the large paddock to the east of the Stream Explorer. While they are outside the fenced area, they may be visible from parts of the Stream Explorer.
If this could be a concern for your dog, feel free to check with me before your visit for an update. If you arrive and find the cows are too distracting for your dog, Iām happy toĀ reschedule your booking.
You are welcome to book a free visit if you would like to come and see the Stream Explorer before bringing your dog.Ā These visits are for people only ā no dogs are permitted during preview sessions.
A standard booking ($20) allows up to 5 dogs. There is ample parking available if friends would like to meet you for your visit.
If more than 5 dogs will be attending, please include theĀ āAdd DogsāĀ into your cart as well for up to 5 or up to 10 additional dogs.Ā Each additional group of up to 5 dogs is $15, with a maximum of 15 dogs per booking.
If you are planning an event with more than 15 dogs, please contact me prior to booking so we can discuss arrangements.
If the weather changes or plans shift (as life sometimes does), you are welcome to reschedule your booking anytime up to one hour before your start time.
Terrain varies throughout the field, so please watch your footing.
Gumboots are recommended, and please pick up after your dog.Ā A wheelie bin is provided onsite for depositing poo bags before you leave.
For safety reasons, children under 16 years of age are not permitted on the property.
No smoking is permitted on the property.

Bookings begin on the hour. Please do not enter the property before your scheduled time. The final 10 minutes of each booking hour allows time for guests to exit before the next visitors arrive.
Arrival instructions:
ā¢ Turn into the first driveway on the right, just before the woolshed at the black water tank.
ā¢ Drive down and park near the lower barnĀ with the red roof.
ā¢ Please close the last steel gate you drove through before releasing your dog(s) from your vehicle. (Leave this and all other gates open when you leave at the end of your booking.)
Everything required for the Stream Explorer visit will be open and accessible. Please do not cross any other fencing or locked gates on the property.
Dogs should remain within the designated Stream Explorer area during your visit.
If you need anything from The Dog House Shoppe or from me at the villa, please secure all dogs in your vehicle first.
The Dog House Shoppe (located at the villa) carries toys, leads, collars, and treats if you find you need something to make your visit even more fun.

My boy usually has terrible recall so it was so good taking him to a spot where he could be free to roam without any concern. I loved how much there was for him, running up slopes, going for a dip in the stream, leaping through the long grass. It's what id always hoped for in hiring a private dog spot
Our boys had another great day here . Was good to feel safe to let the 2 little ones off their leads knowing they are in a safe area and can roam free without any worries
This was an exciting hour for our 5 dogs. They may have become temporarily deaf as they checked out the stream, the trees and the bunny scents. We could allow them complete freedom to explore. We will be going back

Our boy absolutely loved his time here, slept like a log all afternoon!
He loved the hills, the long grass, the stream crossings, the mud... the fact he could chase rabbit scents over decent distances... absolute doggy heaven!
We were unsure about the shorter farm fencing at first, but felt more confident after doing a walk through prior to booking.
There in so much space, interesting smells and streams to play in, that our boy didn't go anywhere near the boring fencing, he felt free!!!
We felt like we had the whole farm to ourselves, its so lovelyand private, what an absolute gem of a place!
We'll definitely be back soon!

My girl absolutely loved her time exploring & I could relax knowing no other dogs or animals were around. She loved being off lead but always checking I wasn't too far away. The hour given is plenty of time, she was ready to leave before I was lol the stream & places to roam tired the ole girl out.
Such a great idea and we will definitely be back.
A friend and I met to take our small breed dogs for a visit to The Stream Explorer. They, and we, had a great time exploring the dog field. We had the full range of water dogs with us - from the dainty paddler through to the boy who spent most of the time in the water - so all 5 dogs were able to enjoy the area their way.
Absolutely love this place! So great for the dogs to be able tor live their best lives running, sniffing, swimming and exploring, and not have to worry about other dogs, people or stock. Would definitely recommend-we are frequent visitors now!

My dog loved jumping around, as she's a mini dachshund she was probably a bit small for this park as the grass was really long and hard for her to get around but she enjoyed all the smells along our walk
What a amazing place, so many things to keep dogs busy . Easy to get to from main road as well.
Thank you for creating this safe space for dogs to have a good run around without the worry of other dogs annoying them .
